Welcome to the Annual

Young Recitalist Competition

A second-level competition is held for music students up to 18 years of age who can prepare a solo piece demonstrating artistic nuance, technical skill and musicality.

Application Deadline 3/15/24

  • Regulations

    Competition is open to instrumentalists up to 18 years of age as of January 1, 2024 who

    • reside in Castro Valley, Dublin, Fremont, Hayward, Livermore, Milpitas, Newark, Pleasanton, San Ramon, Sunol or Union City, and

    • are able to play from memory a solo piece up to ten minutes in length* that demonstrates artistic nuance, technical skill and musicality.

    Judges will select up to ten finalists to perform their audition pieces in a widely publicized recital on April 21st, 2024. Each finalist will receive a certificate recognizing his or her achievement.

    *An excerpt from a longer work is acceptable.

  • Auditions

    Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at First United Methodist Church, 2950 Washington Blvd., Fremont.

    Specific audition times will be assigned after the application deadline.
