Bay Philharmonic is proud to welcome acclaimed conductor Dr. Jane K. Brown as our Interim Conductor & Artistic Director for the 2026-2027 season!
Dr. Brown is a dynamic and internationally recognized conductor known for her passionate leadership, innovative programming, and commitment to making symphonic music accessible and engaging for audiences of all ages. A native of Northern California, she brings a deep-rooted love for community-centered music-making, education, and has a distinguished career founding and conducting professional orchestras, and youth ensembles, as well as global guest conducting engagements.
She currently serves as Conductor and Artistic Director of the Reno Pops Orchestra, the Ruby Mountain Symphony, and the Northern Nevada String Serenade, where her leadership has expanded audiences, elevated artistic quality, and strengthened musical connections within those communities. Her work has also taken her across the world, including guest conducting appearances with professional orchestras in Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.
Dr. Brown holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and has studied orchestral conducting with many internationally-renowned conductors, including Gustav Meier, Markand Thakar, Diane Wittry, Jonathan Bret, and Alexander Polyanichko. She is widely recognized for her energetic rehearsal style, collaborative spirit, and ability to inspire musicians to achieve their highest potential. She is also deeply committed to music education and outreach, having worked with thousands of young musicians and audiences throughout her career.
