BayPhil Youth Orchestra Welcomes Dr. Carlos Hernandez

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Bay Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (BPYO) is pleased to announce Dr. Carlos Hernandez as its new Music Director. Dr. Hernandez follows the founder and previous director of the BPYO, Judy Lam, as well as the conductor of the youngest ensemble, Marcella Schantz. Ms. Lam and Ms. Schantz will continue to be active with the orchestra by providing support and supplemental instruction to the students during this upcoming season of transition.

Maestro Hernandez’s appointment represents an important milestone for the orchestra and its parent organization, the Bay Philharmonic. Dr. Hernandez is a graduate from Ball State University with a Doctor of Arts with a secondary focus in Music Entrepreneurship. Along with this expertise, he brings an incredible amount of enthusiasm and vision.

I am honored to follow Judy Lam and become the second Music Director of the Bay Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. My passion for facilitating a safe and empowering space complements the overall vision of harmony for the Bay Philharmonic. In rehearsals I aim to nurture a deep love for music so it derives joy and continues to be a meaningful act of self- expression. Through the sharing of beautiful music, stories and experiences, our hope is that audiences can come listen to the Bay Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and be inspired within their own lives and in their communities.
